1 General
 1.01 System Description
 A. Manufactured steel embedded CMU
 B. .1875" (3/16") Steel plate in one or more faces with 2 mil red oxide coating.
 1.02 Related Section
 A. Section 5090 Metal Fastening.
 1.03 System Performance Requirements
 A. Provide unit masonry complying with ASTM C-90.
 B. Embedded block steel plate must pass static strength pullout test at 6,000 pounds minimum.
 C. Embedded block steel plate must pass cyclical fatigue arm load test applied at load sequence 0 to 400 to 0 lbs. for 60,000 cycles, then 0 to 500 to 0 lbs. for 40,000 cycles.
 D. Embedded block must pass ultimate load test of 2,600 lbs.
 1.04 Delivery, Storage and Handling
 A. Units must be stored on covered pallets, labeled with product identification, for protection.

 2.02 Materials
 A. M/BED Concrete Masonry Units with trademark stamped on 3/16" steel plate.
 B. Normal CMU.
 2.03 Size
 A. Steel plates 7-5/8" x 7-5/8" or 7-5/8" x 15-5/8".
 B. CMU provided 8" x 8" x 16" nominal (6", 8" and 12" available with manufacturers approval)
 2.04 Quality Control
 A. Test reports by Southwest Research Institute.
                      
3 Execution
 3.01 Installation
 A. Install M/BED unit as detailed on shop drawings provided by the steel erector, per standard masonry practice.
 B. Any M/BED CMU alterations must be approved by the factory.
 3.02 Cleaning
 A. Clean wall daily with brush as required.
