Overview
What are embeds?
Embeds are pieces of metal, fabricated in various configurations which
are used to attach accessories to concrete block walls. Architects
designate the exact location for embeds to be located on the concrete
walls so that the accessories can be bolted or welded.
Where are embeds used?
Embeds are used in a wide variety of facilities. Although they
are used extensively in detention buildings, such as jails and prisons,
they are also used in other facilities such as warehouses, supermarkets,
and schools. M/Bed blocks are placed on CMU walls on 30" centers for
attaching shelves for brick veneer.
Some common attachments are:
- Bunks
- Desks
- Seats
- Grab Bars
- Privacy Panels
- Window Frames
- TV Stands
- Coat Hooks
- Mirrors
- Sliding Doors
- Ceiling and Roof Trusses
Flexibility
M/Bed blocks are available in variety of plate arrangements on CMU that
will accommodate 6", 8" and 12" thick walls. M/Bed
blocks are shipped to your job site with metal components prepared using
red primer. The units are easily finished to satisfy project design
and criteria. M/BED solves the challenge of mounting fixtures into
concrete masonry walls. Setting an M/BED Block in place does not
require any special tools or labor. M/BED Blocks install the same as any
other concrete block. Since hardware can be bolted or welded to the M/BED
Block, delays in completing the walls are eliminated since M/BED plates are there
when the frames and furniture are availble on site.
Efficient
Time is the most expensive items in building projects. Installing
embeds used to require substantial amounts of time and labor due to their
design. The new M/Bed Block System can eliminate the additional
expense in buildings where hardware and other attachments are welded and
bolted to concrete walls.
